Hey, my names Mike, Im 14 and I live in the USA. I just wanted to introduce myself to you guys. At the moment I only have my 3.2 megapixel camera to make my shorts. It has no sound so i have to work around that and the picture isnt to great. But soon ill be working at at the International House of Pancakes so i can buy myself a decent videocamera. I was wondering If any of you had sugestions for a MiniDV cam for around $300-$400? Also, is there a website I could upload my movies to? Thanks. Cya.

Welcome to eXsposure, I started out with a 3.2 MP still shot camera as well (check out my site, i made Aeth with one) not that that is good or anything, but its a start.

Streamload is a great fast host, it wont host websites but it hosts your films, i pay ten dollars and you get heaps of space and bandwidth.

(www.streamload.com) Read the rules etc to figure it out.

And to host the actual webpages of teh website, and pictures ect, a great fast free host (without ads) is www.freewebs.com

Good Luck!

ebay. sometimes B&H photovideo in NYC has used miniDV cameras for sale.

long before you upload your movie to the web, you'll want to learn to create and edit a great story. Don't worry so much about the future right away. You have time. Good luck.

Fresh fish, fresh fish, fresh fish!

My advice for you at the age of 14 is:

-Use what you have, forget that it's a 3.2 MP camera/no sound. I'm sure you can create some cool little arty shorts with that!
-Write down ideas, visuals/stories stuff like that. You WILL forget them in time!
-Look into getting some work experience in media production. Contacts/experience/equipment ahoy!

Don't get too hung up on aquiring equipment.Good luck and welcome to the board.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">There are a few places listed in the thread called "web space....?" about to slip off the first page of this very hostboard.

the internet archive will host your movies and meet your other requirements. also they have FTP and good access speeds (and little or no editorial checks ;-)
I think you can even hotlink if you like.

Thanks guys, I apreciate the advice! That internet archive seems to be what im looking for, the whole FTPclient thing confused me though, but i think i got it now. Last night i slept over my friends house, and of course we were up extremely late, so randomly at 3 in the morning we decided to make a little short. Its actually the first project ive done on this camera. The video combines stop-action filming and live-action, we shot it in about an hour. I just put it together today, a little dissapointed, but nonetheless ill have it up soon for your veiwing displeasure! Alright, well... my blender is begging me to make a smoothie with it... and i mus'nt dissapoint! Peace!

Yeh, when I started filming about a year or two ago (13yrsold) i was using a hi8 that I could barely get the same quality out of as a dispose-able, you will look back and laugh at them, but your friends will love them it will also make you more popular, great to see that your starting with the real stuff not skate videos .
Rock on my friend
